What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a form of talking therapy. It combines psychotherapy with hypnosis. Hypnosis or trance is very natural and ordinary in many ways. We go into trance many times a day,

when we are driving, watching television, out for runs etc. We do it all the time. It is not mind-control! When we are in a trance state we are still in control, and our brain will process and decide whether information is useful to us or not. The brain will not accept or do anything against our will. Being in trance is a very relaxing experience.

By using structured, well-researched strategies, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy helps people to make significant, positive changes in their lives in a relatively short period of time. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy looks at what is happening currently and the positive changes we can make for the future. It does not dwell on the problem.

Hypnotherapy is very effective in helping pregnant parents to be in a useful mind set for birth.

If we approach birth feeling calm, positive, in control and prepared, we will produce all the right chemicals for labour. In this way we are less likely to need interventions. However, if we do decide to have interventions, we will make this decision as an informed choice with intellect, rather than panicking.
